Ronderique Anderson

Ronderique Anderson
--- - February 5, 2011
Ronderique was sixteen months old when he passed away. At the time, he was in the care of his father, Dwayne Poole, and his father's girlfriend, Tonya Myers. Caseworkers had put him in his father's care after examining his case. It was in his father's care that Ronderique was fatally beaten because he was playing near an electrical socket. Ronderique's mother, Fredreda Scott, had attempted to get custody of him, but did not meet the requests of the caseworker.

Dwayne had a history of battery arrests, and in Ronderique's case, he was charged with child abuse and first degree murder. His girlfriend, Tonya, was charged with child neglect after she admitted that she knew that Dwayne had knocked Ronderique's teeth out, yet had done nothing to help the boy. When she was asked why, she said she didn't do anything because Dwayne had threatened to knock her teeth and her daughter's teeth out too.

Dwayne was found guilty of child abuse and homicide. He received a total of forty years in prison. Tonya pleaded guilty to child neglect. She was sentenced to five years.

Ruby Spink

Ruby Spink
October 4, 2006 - September 16, 2007
Ruby was born on October 4, 2006. She passed away when she about one month shy of her first birthday. She died in a hospital about an hour and a half after being brought there due to a head injury. Emergency services and police had arrived Ruby's home after Ruby's mother's boyfriend, who was watching Ruby, called for help claiming that Ruby had choked on a piece of cake.

Earlier that day, Ruby's mother, Laura Spink, had taken Ruby shopping with her. When she returned home, she left Ruby in a room with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend had been playing video games at the time. She went downstairs, leaving Ruby with him. His name was Mitchell Cooper.

After Ruby passed away, her body was examined and it was discovered that she couldn't have possibly have passed away from choking on a piece of cake. She had been abused. She passed away due to a head injury. She had a six inch fracture in her skull, as well as injuries to her brain. Her injuries matched those that she would have if she had been dropped to the ground from a high height. In addition to these new injuries, some of her ribs had been broken, and both of her legs were broken. These injuries were older, proving that Ruby wasn't abused just once, but multiple times.

When questioned, Mitchell maintained his story that Ruby had choked on cake. Laura was also questioned. She said that she had left Ruby with Mitchell, and that when she returned, Mitchell was performing CPR on Ruby and told her that she had choked on cake. Mitchell was charged with murder, and Laura was charged with neglect.

Eventually, it was found that Mitchell had swung Ruby against a wall, which caused the fatal head injury. Mitchell was found guilty and was given a life sentence, with twelve of those years being mandatory. Laura was found guilty and was sent to a young offenders institution for one year.

Liam Hogan

Liam Stephen Hogan
May 30, 2000 - August 15, 2006
Liam was born on May 30, 2000 to Natasha and John Hogan. He had a little sister named Mia, and she was two years old at the time of Liam's death. Liam passed away after his father and his mother got into an argument while they were on the fourth floor of a hotel. Liam's father, John, had grabbed Liam and his sister, Mia, pushed them off the balcony, and then jumped off of the hotel balcony after them, falling four stories with them. Mia and John survived, but Liam passed away due to his injuries.

During his trial, John said that he felt no guilt about Liam's death because "the real John" was not the one who killed Liam. He said that he didn't even remember anything about the incident. Liam's mother had remarried by the time the trial began. When John was cleared of killing Liam, she was very upset and said that it was like Liam had died for nothing.

Opal Jennings

Opal Jo Dace Jennings
November 24, 1992 - March 26, 1999
Opal was born on November 24, 1992. When she was six years old, she was reported missing after she was abducted from a vacant lot near her grandparents' home where she had been playing with her two year old cousin and one of her friends who was four years old. The other children saw her getting kidnapped and reported that a man had grabbed her, punched her in her chest, and then shoved her into his vehicle.
Opal was reported missing and everybody began searching for her. They had no luck. Opal's friend was able to give a description of the man who he saw take Opal. The description matched a man by the name of Richard Franks, and someone who knew Richard noticed that the description of the car matched Richard's care as well. This person reported this to the authorities and they investigated. Richard consented to his vehicle being searched and gave a testimony that allowed him to be arrested for the aggravated kidnapping of Opal. In the testimony, he said that he had picked up Opal in his car, but had only driven her to the supermarket and then left her there, unharmed.
Richard was convicted of aggravated kidnapping and was sentenced to life in prison. In the end of 2003, two people riding horses found a portion of a skull while on their ride. They notified the authorities. More bones were found, as well as shoes matching the description of the shoes Opal was wearing when she was kidnapped, pieces of Opal's clothing, and a child's toy. The remains were tested and it was proven that they were Opal's. It was found that she died from a blow to her head, though investigators couldn't determine exactly where Opal had passed away or if she had been sexually assaulted. As far as I can tell at the time this was published, Richard was never charged with killing Opal.

Alyssa Logue

Alyssa Kay Logue
November 30, 2004 - October 26, 2006
Alyssa was born on November 30, 2004 to Christy Armstrong. Alyssa was a happy and sweet little girl who loved her mommy, her brother, Dora, Winnie the Pooh, and Disney princesses. On October 24, 2006, Alyssa's mother left Alyssa and her brother in the care of her boyfriend, Paul Cotter. When Alyssa' mother returned home from work, she went to wake Alyssa from her nap. She found that Alyssa was unresponsive. Alyssa was taken to the hospital and put on life support.
Medical examiners found that Alyssa's brain was bleeding. It was clear to them that she had been shaken. They also noticed she had older injuries, proving that she had been abused before. Alyssa's mother, Christy, was told that it was not very likely that Alyssa would survive, and that if she did, it was likely she wouldn't be able to survive without life support, and she would probably never truly wake up from her vegetative state.
After three days of being on life support, Alyssa passed away. Paul Cotter plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to ten years.

Letha Slate

Letha Kay Louise Slate
August 30, 2005 - March 27, 2006

Letha was born on August 30, 2005 to John Slate and Patricia Campbell. She was a happy and beautiful littler girl. Her father, John, said that no matter how upset he might have been, Letha's smile could always brighten his day and make him happy. On March 25, 2006, she was home alone with her mother. Her father, John, was at work.

Patricia had decided to give Letha a bath that day. She put water in the bathtub and then put Letha in her bath seat. After this, she decided to take a nap, leaving Letha alone in the bathtub. Emily Mays

Emily Ann Mays
April 15, 2004 - August 24, 2005
Emily was born on April 15, 2004 to Katherine Mays and Patrick Baker. She had two sisters named Jessica and Kayla. She had one brother named Dylan. At the time Emily passed away she was in foster care. Her foster parents, Penny and Randall West, were licensed to foster. Emily had been living with them for less than one month before her death.
On the day Emily died, her foster father, Randall, had left for work. Penny, her foster mother, was left to care for Emily. She said that about an hour after Randall went to work, Emily tipped over backwards and stopped breathing. Penny called 911, and then she called Randall several times. When paramedics arrived, Emily's eyes were fixed and dilated, which usually signifies irreparable brain damage.

Medical professionals discovered that Emily had died due to blunt force trauma, but said that the injury that caused her death could have been caused up to two hours before medical assistance was called for her. Medical examiners said that Emily's head injuries were consistent with the injuries of someone who had fallen from a tall height, or had gotten into a car accident. They could not have been caused by someone falling as Penny had claimed Emily had.

During the trial, Penny was sentenced to six months in jail after being convicted of Emily's death. She also received four years of probation.

Coralrose Fullwood

Coralrose Eve Fullwood
November 24, 1999 - September 17, 2006
Coralrose was born on November 24, 1999. On September 17, 2006, Coralrose was reported missing. She had last been seen in her bedroom, and it appeared that she had been taken from her bedroom in the middle of the night. Her father, Dale Fullwood, said that he had returned home from the bar at two in the morning and that everyone was asleep at the time, but when he woke up in the morning, his daughter was missing. The day after Coralrose was reported missing, her body was discovered. She was nude and wrapped in a blanket. She was at a construction site just a few houses away from her home. Her cause of death was blunt force trauma with asphyxiation. She had also been sexually abused.
A man named Patrick Murphy was charged with kidnapping, assaulting, and murdering Coralrose. Multiple adults were said to be at Patrick's home at this time, as well as three other little girls and one little boy. It was said that one of the men at the home offered the children $10 if they would perform sexual acts on each other and allow him to film them. Patrick's DNA was found on Coralrose's body. Coralrose's father was an acquaintance to this man,  Police were also suspicious of Dale Fullwood because at the time Coralrose was reported missing, child pornography was found on his computer. He was arrested for this, but maintained that he had nothing to do with what happened to his daughter. Eventually, Patrick pleaded guilty to raping and murdering Coralrose. He was sentenced to life. Nobody else was sentenced for Coralrose's death, although some of her family members and detectives who worked on her case believe others were involved too.

Kerra Wilson

Kerra Marie Wilson
April 17, 2003 - September 22, 2011
Kerra was born on April 17, 2003. She had a brother named Kooper and two sisters named Keanny and Nathiiah. She loved caring for her siblings and she was known to be very generous. She was always trying to make everybody around her happy. Kerra was a fan of "High School Musical" and "Hannah Montana". She was also a big fan of Selena Gomez. She liked swimming, playing on the trampoline, reading to her siblings, and watching television.
In September of 2011, Kerra was reported missing. She was eight years old. Her grandmother reported her missing around 3:00 that afternoon when her elementary school called to say that Kerra hadn't been at school that day. Kerra's step-father, Salvador Lopez, said that he had dropped Kerra off at school in the morning. Investigators saw no evidence of Kerra having been at school that day when they looked at the surveillance footage from the school.
People searched for Kerra for two days before her body was discovered partially buried miles away from her town. She had been sexually assaulted, strangled, and hit with a shovel. Salvador admitted that he had raped Kerra. She was going to tell her mother that Salvador had touched her inappropriately, so he strangled her. He said he left her there, and came back later. When he thought he saw Kerra breathing, he hit her twice with a shovel.

Salvador was charged with first degree murder. He was found guilty and received a life sentence.
