Hope Arismandez

Hope Arismandez
December 14, 1999 - May 24, 2008
Hope was born on December 14, 1999. She loved reading books, and she wanted to be a teacher when she grew up. Her mother was named Sherma Rajoon. Her father was Donald Arismandez. On the day Hope went missing, she had called her mother at around nine o'clock at night. Hope asked Sherma to come home, as Sherma was at work. Sherma eventually did come home from work, and when she did, she could not find Hope.

Hope lived with her mother, her fourteen year old brother, and her mother's boyfriend, Sunil Ali. While her mother was at work, Hope was left in the care of a neighbor. Around 5:00 p.m., Sunil picked Hope up from her neighbor's house, according to the neighbor. However, Sunil told Sherma that he didn't know where Hope was, as he had been putting gas in his truck and drinking beer. Sherma reported Hope missing. Police, family, friends, and strangers all began searching for Hope.

Police immediately questioned Sunil. He gave many different stories before finally admitting that he had been drinking, and then had become attracted to Hope. He said that he had convinced Hope to go on a ride with him in his truck. Sunil attempted to rape Hope, and she fought against his advances and attempted to escape from him. When she attempted to get away, Sunil pushed Hope out of the truck and began beating her. Sunil became worried that if he took Hope home, she would tell someone that he had attempted to rape her. He cut her throat and stabbed her in the back of her head.

On May 27, 2008, Sunil lead police to where he had left Hope's body. Sunil was charged with killing Hope, and a court date was set, however, before the court date, Sunil had killed himself in his prison cell.

Michael Ayers

Michael Robert Ayers
September 8, 2010 - March 23, 2013
Michael was two years old when he passed away. His mother, Hollie Ayers, said that Michael was a very happy and friendly little boy. He was always full of questions and was very talkative. He liked construction and was a big fan of John Deere tractors. On the day Michael died, he was supposed to be given to his father, which was routine, as his parents had been separated since he was six weeks old. Michael's father, Kenneth Ayers, met with them at his mother's home so the visits could be supervised. Hollie had an order of protection against Kenneth, and he wasn't allowed to see her, while he could still see their son.

On this day, Hollie brought Michael to Kenneth's mother's home, like usual. Michael's grandmother said that she was going to go get Michael when Michael's father, Kenneth, revealed that he had a gun. He shot Hollie more than once, though she survived. He took Michael, then shot Michael on purpose. He put Michael in the back of his truck, and attempted to shoot his own mother. Hollie said that she grabbed Michael and was aware Michael was dead. She initially wasn't aware of her own bullet wounds. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated. Kenneth had fled the scene.

Hours later, investigators located Kenneth, discovering that he had driven his truck away from the scene and parked it along a road before shooting himself, ending his own life.

Devin Aryal

Devin Joseph Aryal
July 10, 2003 - February 11, 2013
Devin was born on July 10, 2003 to Melissa and Dibakar. He had a step-mother named Mamata. He had a sister named Savannah, and a brother named Dibyam. Devin was known to talk a lot. He was always sharing stories about his day at school, or video games he enjoyed playing. He even talked to the characters in his video games sometimes. He also was always full of questions, and was very curious about science. He wanted to be an astronaut someday. He wanted to know all about what was in space. He was very kind and made friends with anyone. He wasn't afraid to stand up to a bully of comfort a classmate if they were sad. When one of his friends had parents who were going through a divorce, Devin comforted his friend, as he had experienced the same thing. He told him, "That's all right. You go to Dad's. You go to Mom's. You get extra presents at Christmas." He would help one of his friends who had trouble walking across the street every morning by holding her hand. He was a kind spirited boy who was a great friend to many.

On the day Devin passed away, he had been riding home from his day care with his mother. Suddenly, Devin's mother, Melissa, felt her arm go numb, as it had been shot. She looked in the back seat to check on her child when she noticed that the back windshield was broken, and Devin was slumped over in his seat. He was unconscious, and he had suffered a gunshot wound to his head. She drove to a nearby parking lot and held her son while she waited for help.

The man who shot Devin was Nhan Lap Tran. He had been standing along the road shooting random vehicles. Other people were injured as well, and he did not know any of his victims. He had fired at at least four vehicles. Devin was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Nhan was arrested and charged with second degree murder.

Nhan was found incompetent to stand trial, and spent a few months being treated for his mental health. At the time this is published, I am unable to find anymore information about Nhan's trial or sentencing.

Jamarcus Allen

Jamarcus J. Allen
February 27, 2008 - January 23, 2013
Jamarcus was born on February 27, 2008 to Jamella and Terrance Allen. He had an older brother named Tyree. He was a happy and energetic little boy who adored superheros, his favorites being Batman and Spider-Man. He also loved football. He would often tell his family members that he loved them, and he was excited to begin kindergarten in the upcoming year. One of his best friends was his two year old cousin, Aniyah.

Jamarcus was also curious about guns, as many children are. In fact, the week before his death, his mother reported that Jamarcus had found his father's pistol which was supposed to be hidden. Jamarcus's older brother had taken the gun out of his hand and given it to his mother. Jamella scolded Jamarcus for playing with it and then demanded that her husband get rid of the gun. Jamarcus's parents were in the process of getting a divorce, but at the time of his death, they still lived together.

On the day Jamarcus died, his father had been driving Jamarcus's older brother to school. Jamarcus came along for the ride.  Tyree had been dropped off at school when suddenly, Terrance pulled over and waved down a county sheriff's deputy that happened to be driving by that morning. A witness saw the deputy pull over and saw Terrance on the ground, holding Jamarcus to his chest. They say they saw Terrance and the deputy talking when suddenly, the deputy "yanked really hard, grabbed the boy, and ran to the ambulance."

Jamarcus was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later. Investigators saw that there was a bullet hole through the top of the car above the rear passenger seat where Jamarcus had been sitting. Investigators determined that Jamarcus had gotten the gun, somehow, in the back of the car and was playing with it when he accidentally shot himself.

Terrance pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He faced a sentence of three to eleven years, though I am unable to find what his sentence ended up being. If you know what Terrance's sentence is, please inform me in the comments and I can add it to this post. Thank you.

Chase Anglemyer

Chase Zire Anglemyer
December 17, 2008 - February 12, 2009
Chase was born on December 17, 2008 to Daniel and Amanda Anglemyer. He had three brothers named Christopher, Caysen, and Conner. When Chase was born, his three brothers had already been removed from his parents' care due to his parents' drug and alcohol use. Both Amanda and Daniel continued using drugs after Chase's birth. People were also concerned about Amanda's overall mental health, as with two of her pregnancies, she did things to purposefully cause her children to be prematurely born, saying, that she "didn't want these, or any of her children."
Regardless of not wanting children, Amanda became pregnant several times, and avoided getting treatment for her problems. After Chase was born, he was allowed to stay in Amanda's care as there were no new drug allegations or positive drug tests that they were concerned about. A month later, DCFS received a complaint that Chase was heard crying at one in the morning and that Amanda had been seen passed out in front of the toilet. The same report said that Daniel had passed out from consuming too many pills. Police had also recently been called to the home due to a domestic violence situation. DCFS took no immediate action, however.

Eleven days after this report, Chase was found deceased in the bed that he and his parents all slept in. The cause of his death was undetermined. When police investigated the home, they found many empty bottles of wine and rum, as well as empty beer cans throughout the home. Both of Chase's parents tested positive for drugs, and the doctor said that Chase's cause of death was "preventable negligence." Still, Chase's parents were not charged in relation to his death.

After Chase's death, Amanda became pregnant again with a little girl named Rae-Lyn. Rae-Lyn was born prematurely at only six months. Amanda received no prenatal care during her pregnancy and admitted to abusing drugs and alcohol while she was aware she was pregnant. Rae-Lyn only lived for one hour, and doctors said that, if not for Amanda's drug usage, Rae-Lyn would have likely survived and been healthy. Amanda was not charged for anything relating to Rae-Lyn either.

Makeda Arthur

Makeda Naomi Grace Arthur
March 8, 2007 - April 24, 2010

Makeda was born on March 8, 2007. When she was three years old, a motorist happened upon her and her mother, Cheryl Arthur. Cheryl was walking along the shoulder of the road carrying Makeda in her arms. The motorist offered them a ride, and Cheryl said that she would get in only if he took her to the police station. He noticed that there was a blood stain on Cheryl's shoulder and asked, "Is your baby alive?" Cheryl told him no, and he rushed the two to a fire station. There, paramedics confirmed that Makeda was dead.

Makeda's autopsy revealed that her cause of death had been strangulation. Eventually, Cheryl admitted that she had become angry with Makeda and strangled her to death. She was charged with first degree murder. During the investigation, it was discovered that DCFS had been involved with Cheryl the previous year. She had recurring issues with drugs. She and her husband, Damian Arthur, had been in many domestic violence altercations, and she had a restraining order against him. Cheryl had been offered services by DCFS, but the only one she accepted was day care services for Makeda.

Cheryl was charged with murder for Makeda's death. She took a plea deal allowing her to be convicted of second-degree murder. She was sentenced to fifteen years in prison.

Deondray Ashe

Deondray "Dooley" Ashe
December 10, 2007 - June 14, 2010

Deondray, nick-named "Dooley" by those who knew him, was born prematurely on December 10, 2007. He weighed only one pound and fifteen ounces at birth. He had to breathe with the help of a breathing tube, and later, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. This did not stop Deondray. He was a fighter.

On March 26, 2010, Deondray was admitted to the hospital with rib fractures and a head injury. They seemed suspicious. Staff at the hospital saw that Deondray was stumbling around and crying. They observed that his eyes were crossed, and he appeared to have lost control over his motor skills. His mother, Ina Brown, and step-father, Marcus Brown, said that they had not injured Deondray. They said that the family dog had injured Deondray. Deondray's father, Marcus Smith, doubted this, as the dog only weighed ten pounds. Ina also said that Deondray was injured when he fell between the headboard and the mattress of the bed.

Deondray was also observed crying when his family came to pick him up from day care. He never wanted to go home with them, which one of the employees at the day care found troubling. When Deondray's mother and step-father were investigated, nothing was found to be wrong, and the investigation was closed.

On June 14, 2010, the day Deondray was found dead. By the time he was taken to the hospital, he had been deceased long enough for rigor mortis to set in. He had twenty-eight bruises on his head and his face. His brain was swollen and bleeding. Many of his ribs on both sides of his body were cracked. He had injuries on the inside of his mouth as well.

Deondray's mother said that she saw Marcus Brown, Deondray's step-father, hit Deondray "five to ten" times because he was frustrated when Deondray didn't follow directions when he was sitting on his potty chair. Marcus Brown had used a belt to hit Deondray on various parts of his body. Deondray's brother reported that he would get "a whooping" with a stick or a belt if he misbehaved. Deondray's sister showed investigators a stick that had tape on one end, creating a handle. Marcus Brown would use this stick to beat Deondray and the other children. After Deondray's death, Deondray's siblings were adopted by their grandfather.

For Deondray's death, Marcus Brown was charged with manslaughter. He was found guilty and was sentenced to twelve years in prison. Ina Brown was convicted of aggravated manslaughter and child neglect with great bodily harm. She was sentenced to ten years in prison.

Nataley Agee

Nataley Jade Agee
June 6, 2011 - September 25, 2011

Nataley was born on June 6, 2011. Her mother was named Kylee Copeland and her father was Trevor Agee. On the day Nataley died, her mother said that her three year old brother had discovered her dead in her crib. Kylee had called 911. When paramedics arrived they found that Nataley was cold to the touch. They also saw several cockroach bites on her body.

Kylee gave numerous stories as to how Nataley passed away before she said that she had dropped Nataley. Medical examiners found that Nataley passed away due to blunt force trauma to her head that could not have possibly been caused by being dropped. Kylee was charged with manslaughter.

In 2008, before Nataley was born, DCFS had been called on Kylee and Trevor after a baby boy was seen sitting sideways in a car seat with duct tape over his mouth. The caseworker for this case said that the parents seemed very cooperative and willing to to improve their parenting skills. They said that they had duct taped the child's mouth to hold the pacifier in his mouth. The caseworker said that they were confident that Kylee and Trevor, young parents, would mature and be responsible parents if they kept working on their parenting skills, which they seemed to be doing.

Investigations done before Nataley was born revealed that Kylee had drug problems, and that she also struggled with domestic abuse. In August of 2010, the state abuse hotline got a call informing them that Trevor was angry and was punching holes in the walls of their home. He had a habit of hitting Kylee, the mother of two of his children at the time.

Months later, DCFS received another call in regards to Kylee and Trevor. This report stated that there were cockroaches and other insects all over their home, The call also said that Kylee had said her children had head lice, so she had put baby oil in their hair. When Kylee was asked about the filthiness of her home, she said that she didn't have time to clean it, despite the fact that she was unemployed. Kylee was told to clean her home, and she did.

Near the end of August, a social worker investigated Kylee two more times after receiving complaints that Kylee would heavily drink and then leave her infant daughter home alone unsupervised. Trevor and Kylee also got into another physical fight, this time in front of their children. One of the children was interviewed. He stated that he was afraid of his father. Kylee filed restraining orders against Trevor for herself and her children.

Nataley's official cause of death was blunt force trauma to her head. Medical examiners ruled that she had been abused. They also saw that Nataley had been dead for at least eight hours before her mother called for help. Kylee was sentenced to fifteen years in prison for Nataley's death.

Kristin Adams

Kristin Love Adams
October 16, 2006 - January 25, 2008

Kristin was born on October 16, 2006 to Brandy Edwards and Mark Adams. She had two sisters named Savana and Misty. She had four brothers named Mark, Noah, O'Neal, and Austin. Kristin's mother, Brandy, had been reported multiple times for appearing very sleepy as she drove and veering off the road while Kristin was unrestrained in the vehicle. Brandy said that this was not true. This was in March of 2007.

In May of 2007, there was a report stating that there were holes burnt through the sheets in Kristin's home, and that there wasn't food in the home for the children to eat. Brandy was also reported to have been trying to get prescription drugs from two separate doctors on the same day. When DCFS investigated, they found that Brandy appeared to be coherent, and they didn't remove Kristin from her home. Instead, Kristin's parents agreed to be supervised, although records are unclear on whether or not any supervision actually occurred.

On January 25, 2008, Kristin passed away. Medical examiners ruled that she passed away from an overdose of methadone. Brandy was convicted of child neglect. When Kristin was found, she had bruises on her head and bites from cockroaches. It was also reported that Kristin's father had beaten one of the other children with a belt, and Kristin was currently living with a man who had been accused of sexually abusing a child. I am unable to find information about the sentencing of Brandy at this time.

July 6, 2006 - September 9, 2010

Samantha was born on July 6, 2006 to Shane and Tammy Arnett. She passed away when she was four years old after being diagnosed with a form of cancer called PNET. She was two years old at the time of her diagnosis. This was in February. Her family had noticed in January that she had severe headaches every so often. She was given tylenol, but it did not seem to help her. Her parents made an appointment with her pediatrician.

The doctor said that Samantha might be having migranes, but he still thought doing an MRI would be best. They also did a CAT scan. Doctors informed her parents that they had seen a mass on Samantha's brain. An MRI revealed that the tumor was bigger than originally thought.

Samantha went through treatment to try and help her. During her last days Samantha had a rough time. At the age of four, however, she passed away surrounded by her loving family.

Tamiyah Audain

Tamiyah Audain
2001 - September 25, 2013

Tamiyah was born in 2001. She was known to love food and love smiling. Whenever she saw a family member or a friend, Tamiyah would always greet them with a hug. She was twelve years old when she passed away, and at the time of her death, she weighed only fifty-six pounds. She had previously weighed one hundred fifteen pounds before being put in the care of her cousin.

Tamiyah was in the care of her cousin, Latoya Patterson. Latoya admitted that she should have never agreed to take care of Tamiyah. Tamiyah had autism, and she was non-verbal. She had also been diagnosed with tuberus sclerosis as well as a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form on various parts of the body including the eyes, brain, heart, kidneys, lungs, and skin. This disorder was what had ultimately caused Tamiyah's mother's death in the previous year. Tamiyah had been in Latoya's care since December of 2012.

Latoya called 911 to report that Tamiyah was not breathing, and that she couldn't feel her pulse. The 911 operator walked Latoya through performing CPR, but it was too late to save Tamiyah. Medical examiners saw that Tamiyah had multiple open bedsores. One was so deep that a bone in Tamiyah's thigh could be seen. Latoya said that she bathed Tamiyah twice a day, but investigators doubted that that could be possible if Latoya didn't notice the open sores all over Tamiyah's body.

Latoya was charged with felony murder. A ChildNet employee, Jabeth Moye, who was supposed to be making sure that Tamiyah was being cared for, was also charged. She plead guilty to one count of child abuse and was sentenced to five years of probation. I am unable to find information about Latoya's trial or sentencing at this time.

Darell Avant

Darell Avant Jr.
2008 - December 28, 2013

Darell was born in 2008 and he was five years old when he passed away. His parents were Darell Avant Sr. and Jessica Phillips. The day that Darell passed away, he was suspended from school because he had kicked a teacher. Darell Sr., his father, picked Darell up from his elementary school that day at around 11 in the morning. Darell Sr. said that he "popped" Darell on his bottom and then forced him to do push-ups and squats for twenty minutes.

When Darell grew tired and stopped doing the exercises, Darell Sr. yelled at him to continue. At one point, Darell said that he was hot and his feet hurt. Darell Sr. reported that after Darell finished the exercises, he went to take a shower. When Darell came out of the shower, he became dizzy and eventually passed out. Darell Sr. said that he slapped, rocked, and shook his child in an attempt to wake him up.

After about twenty-five minutes of Darell being unconscious, Darell Sr. called a friend over to his house. When the friend arrived, he attempted to help Darell by performing CPR on him. When the CPR was unsuccessful, Darell Sr. called 911. When paramedics arrived, they pronounced Darell as deceased.

Multiple blunt force injuries were found on Darell's body. When investigators spoke to Darell's mother, who was not home at the time of Darell's death, she told them that Darell had not been injured when he left for school in the morning. A neighbor reported that Darell Sr. often spanked his child, and was known to use a belt when he spanked Darell. Darell Sr.'s one year old son, who was home at the time of Darell's death, was taken from Darell Sr.'s custody.

Darell Sr. was charged with first degree murder. As of now, I am unable to find anymore information on Darell, Darell Sr., or updates about the case.

Trysten Adams

Trysten Eli Frank Adams
July 24, 2012 - September 28, 2014
Trysten was born on July 24, 2012 to Elisa Benedito and Hoyt Adams. He had a sister named Nydia and a brother named Ethan. He liked squirrels and playing with cars. His absolute favorite thing to do was play with his sister and his brother. At the time of Trysten's death, he was in the care of his foster father, Michael Beer.

Trysten was not the first child that Michael Beer fostered. Years before, he had fostered a two year old girl. It was on record that Michael had failed to get medical attention for this child when she suffered serious injuries like a cracked skull and a broken arm, among other things. In 2014 when Michael had to renew his license, the case with the two year old girl was noted, but it was said that the incident that had happened over twenty years ago did not automatically disqualify him from getting the license renewed. It was renewed.

Trysten and his two siblings were put into the care of Michael who worked as a substitute teacher for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. His wife, Michelle Beer, worked as a teacher in an elementary school. Trysten and his siblings were put into Michael and Michelle's care because their mother used drugs and failed to stop using them for the several months she needed to in order to keep custody of her children. Trysten's father also used drugs routinely.

Originally, Trysten and his siblings were put into the custody of their maternal grandmother. They were taken away from her when she was found to have been driving while intoxicated. They were placed with foster parents other than Michael and Michelle. These foster parents allowed Trysten's biological parents to visit their children. They reported that Trysten's father, Hoyt, had threatened to tie Trysten's mother, Elisa, to a tree where nobody would hear her.

When Michael and Michelle applied to foster, their names were ran through the abuse database and the search returned with no records of child abuse. By the time Trysten passed away, a total of ten foster children had been in Michael and Michelle's care. Trysten first began living with Michael and Michelle on July 29, 2014.

At the time Trysten died, Michael was the only adult home caring for him. Michelle and his biological daughter were in town running errands. An autopsy showed that the injuries Trysten had occurred when he was in the care of Michael and that his blunt force injuries appeared to have been caused by a punch or a kick. He had a lacerated liver, internal bleeding, and internal bruising.

When Michael's biological child was asked about how her father treated Trysten, she expressed that Trysten was sometimes treated harshly. She said that Trysten whined sometimes, and when she was asked why he whined, she said that it was because her father put him down for a nap or a diaper change "too rough." When she was asked to use a teddy bear to show how her father put him down for naps or diaper changes, she grabbed the teddy bear by one arm and swung it down.

Michael Beer was charged with first degree murder and aggravated child abuse. As of the moment this is posted, I am unable to find more information about Michael Beer's charges, trial, and sentencing.

Aaliyah Ali

Aaliyah Nevaeh Ali
--- - August 12, 2010

Aaliyah was born to parents Gabrielle Money-Penny and Omar Ali. She passed away when she was twenty-three months old. Two days before Aaliyah passed away, paramedics were called in response to a toddler not breathing after being found in a bathtub. At the time this happened, Aaliyah was in the care of her babysitter, Tiffani Calise, who was also her mother's friend.

Tiffani said that she had been giving Aaliyah a bath when she left her alone for a short period of time while she went to go get a towel from a closet. She said that when she came back, she saw Aaliyah was limp and she immediately called for help. She said that she believed Aaliyah had fallen down int he bathtub. When Aaliyah arrived at the hospital, medical professionals saw that evidence on Aaliyah's body that didn't match up with what Tiffani said had happened. Tiffani was arrested the next day for child endangerment.

Aaliyah had head injuries that were not consistent with drowning or falling in the bathtub. She had bleeding in her brain, and it looked as if she had been violently shaken. Tiffani's own child was removed from her custody. Tiffani was also eight months pregnant at the time Aaliyah died. Tiffani was arrested and charged with Aaliyah's murder. She was found guilty and was sentenced to life in prison without parole for fifteen years.

Zoe Anyan

Zoe Elizabeth Anyan
November 3, 2003 - February 16, 2011
Zoe was born on November 3, 2003 to Scott and Melissa Anyan. She had an older sister named Jasmine. She also had a cousin, Kenneth, who was like a brother to her. She was in second grade and enjoyed playing with her friends at school. She adored her puppy, Penny. She liked going fishing with her father, bowling, baking, and going to Build-A-Bear. She also enjoyed movies, shopping, butterflies, ladybugs, art, McDonalds french fries, and rainbows.

Zoe was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, often referred to as "DIPG." No child has ever survived DIPG, as there is no cure, only treatments that help reduce the symptoms until the child ultimately passed away. DIPG is a brainstem tumor. When Zoe was diagnosed, the tumor she had was the size of an apricot. Her family was already having financial troubles. They held fundraisers to pay for their rent.

Eventually, Zoe's left side became paralyzed due to DIPG. She began experiencing double vision and her speech and balance were greatly impaired as well. She began becoming very tired very easily. Zoe was aware that she was very sick, but her parents kept the fact that she was almost certain to pass away due to her illness hidden from her.

Zoe stopped going to school about a month before she passed away. She was put on hospice care and everyone tried to make sure she was as comfortable as she could possibly be. Zoe passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by love and care.

Roxie Archer

Roxie Jo-Anne Archer
March 28, 2010 - March 11, 2012
Roxie passed away when she was almost two years old. Her mother was Sophie Archer. Roxie was known for being very happy and smiling all the time. Her grandmother said that everyone who met Roxie fell in love with her. She passed away just days before her second birthday. It was originally reported that Roxie had fallen down the stairs, causing a severe head injury that ended her life.

Roxie had been left in the care of her mother's boyfriend, Ben Raferty. Roxie's mother, Sophie, had left her with him while she went on a surprise trip with her father to celebrate her twenty-first birthday. This was the first time Sophie ever left Roxie with anybody. Roxie was originally going to be in the care of her grandmother while Sophie was on the trip, but Ben said that he wouldn't mind looking after her for the first of the five days that Sophie would be on her trip. When Sophie arrived at her destination, she learned of Roxie's serious injuries, and she managed to go back home just two hours later.

Ben had called for an ambulance that day and reported that he had accidentally left the gate to the stairs open, and that Roxie had fallen down. Roxie was rushed to the hospital and she passed away the following day. She had brain damage, retinal hemorrhaging, and several serious bruises. Medical examiners determined that these injuries couldn't have possibly been accidental, and that they had to have been caused when Ben was caring for Roxie.

During the investigation, a lot of things were found to be strange. When paramedics arrived, Roxie was laying in an upstairs bedroom. Paramedics found it odd that Ben would have found Roxie in serious condition after falling down the stairs, and carried her up the stairs again. They also said that Ben acted odd at the hospital, and only seemed to be concerned with himself. He even stated that he was scared that he would get in trouble for what happened to Roxie.

Roxie referred to Ben as "Daddy", and he had been living with her and her mother for some time before her death. It was reported that Ben would treat Roxie cruelly on occasion by doing things such as holding her upside down by her ankles or lifting up one end of the couch without warning while Roxie sat on it, causing her to fall over. Roxie was reported to have not wanted to play with Ben, and on one occasion, it was said that Ben angrily stormed out of the house because Roxie refused to tell him goodbye when he was going on a trip. When Ben wasn't there, Roxie was asked if she wanted to see him again, and it was said that she replied that she did not.

Ben was found guilty of killing Roxie, and he was sentenced to life in prison. He is elligible for parole after serving eighteen years.

Hadley Arnett

Hadley Arnett
--- --, 2012 - January 28, 2013
Hadley passed away on January 28, 2013 when he was six months old. His mother was Brittany Arnett. After Hadley's death, Brittany admitted to investigators that she had become angry and frustrated that she was left alone to care for Hadley one day and couldn't get him to stop crying. She said that she put Hadley in his swing and slammed his head into the tray of the swing. She also said that she violently took Hadley out of the swing, not supporting his head, and watched as his head swung back and forth when she took him out of the swing. She believed that his head hit the tray on the swing when she took him out as well.

When Brittany's boyfriend came home that day, he realized that Hadley was not acting as he normally did. He saw that Hadley seemed sensitive to touch, wouldn't remain focused, and finally noticed that he had blood in his mouth. Brittany later told investigators that she was afraid to tell her boyfriend what had happened while he was gone because she feared getting in trouble. Eventually the two took Hadley to the hospital. By this time, he was not breathing and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

A medical examiner discovered that Hadley had many injuries. He had lacerations in various place of his body, brain hemorrhaging, broken ribs, and a separated spine. Brittany was charged with first degree murder. She took a plea deal and was sentenced to twelve years in prison.
